Jonathan Broce- Source 1

Question: How does the NBA draft rules effect players, and what are good methods for change?

In this particular article, the author Katie Streck is in favor of changing the NBA's eligibility rules for draft prospects. She gives many examples of players who have been forced to play college basketball, which leads to their downfall long term wise. Examples such as Greg Oden, OJ Mayo and Brandon Jennings help compliment her argument. She also ties in the format of the MLB draft, and says it would also be effective in the NBA.

The source changed my thinking a bit, by making me even more biased towards change. Streck supplied valid arguments and real life examples that show the true effect of the rule. I agree with her idea to change the formatting to  MLB type draft rules. This source also makes me wonder how they plan to keep competitiveness in NCAA basketball, if all the star players go straight to the NBA.

New questions this source made me ask are: How is competition kept up in NCAA if rule is changed? How does this rule effect not only players, but others? (coaches, families, and the league) Would there be more "draft busts" if this rule was changed?
